My name is Lawrence H. Thomas, I was in the third Platoon, third squad. Ssgt. Ramsey was my boss. I join the unit just after they left Phan Rang. I think it was April or May, not sure any more, any way I was hit 11 Jan. 67, AK47 damm near took off my right leg. I was the only one hit that day. I was stuck in the mediVac chopper all night because of the weather, they got me out the next morning, and sent me to the 106th Gen. Hosp. in Japan. A couple of months later, a bunch of the guys join me there. Gen. Westmorland gave a lot of us Purple Hearts.
