Directed to Hannibal Re Fort Campbell, Ky Jump School 1966. I was not a member of 327. I was assigned to 321st Artillery. My Story: In 1965, joined a Ship Load of Ammunition in Wilmington NC. Never made it to Vietnam, stranded in Yokosuka, Japan with ship problems. In Japan for 3 months before Navy signed for Ammunition and my three guards and I returned to Fort Campbell. When I returned to my Unit, my slot had been filled. In January 1966 I was assigned to Jump school as Cadre (Jump Week). In September 1966 received Vietnam orders. Assigned to 319th Artillery, 173rd Airborne, Bien Hoa, Vietnam. Story about ship was in December 1966 Readers Digest. "Our Leaky Pipeline to Vietnam" . Ship was USS Malden Victory. Story does not mention Military persons on board. I do have a letter from Ship s Captain and my list of classified ammo that Navy signed [email protected]
